Let me see if I understand the gist of “How to Tear Down a Nuclear Reactor” (March 28). Southern California Edison will spend $460 million over eight years to decommission Unit 1 of the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station, when the unit could continue operating “indefinitely” with $100 million in upgrades.
No wonder Edison charges 50% more for electricity than the national average.
