It was one year ago today that Quartz Hill defeated Highland, 2-1, on an eight-inning, run-scoring single by Jamie Booth to begin its march toward a fourth consecutive Golden League crown.
The teams meet at 3:30 p.m. today at Quartz Hill with first place on the line.
The Rebels (11-5, 2-0) are similar to the Bulldogs (9-5, 2-0) because both teams have solid pitching and potent offenses.
Lancaster also is 2-0 in league.
But Jodie Cox, who led Quartz Hill to its four consecutive league titles, is at Cal State Fullerton.
Mandi Ricker and Amber Hilblom have taken over the pitching duties. Ricker is 10-3 with a 1.73 earned-run average. Hilblom is 1-2 with a 1.62 ERA.
Nichole Rawson is the ace for Highland. She is 8-5 with a 1.01 ERA.
