City Councilman Mike Spurgeon announced Tuesday that he will not run for reelection after nearly 10 years on the council.
Spurgeon was appointed to fill a vacant seat on the council in 1990 and was elected in 1992 and again in 1996.
In a faxed statement, he wrote that it is “time for a new generation of leadership in Orange.”
“It has been a great ride but it’s time to go,” the statement said. “I do have a life--a family life and a personal life.”
