Peacocks’ Songs
The peacocks’ plaintively invigorating “ca-ca” songs are not only good music to my ears but to those of legions of bird lovers everywhere (letter, Aug. 9). Not to be taken for granted is the appreciation of these birds as being one of the most fascinatingly beautiful creatures on God’s green Earth. In Arcadia’s case, the Arboretum caretakers manage to keep the grounds there looking immaculately well-tended, despite being happy hosts to a large bevy of the birds.
We have enough real environmental problems from the excessive growth rate of our human population in the Southland without picking on such inspiring members of our fine-feathered bird community.
