Alleged Reactor Plot Reported Foiled

Authorities foiled a plot in March that apparently targeted a nuclear reactor in Sydney, Australia, during this year’s Olympics, the New Zealand Herald reported. Police raids on suspected people-smuggling operations allegedly run by organized crime gangs uncovered evidence of the plot, the Auckland-based paper said in the first public report on the investigation. New Zealand police confirmed that its officers raided an Auckland home that had been converted into a virtual command center, with detailed maps of Sydney highlighting the reactor, along with notes on police security. However, there was no immediate police confirmation that the reactor was the alleged target. The paper said no arrests are known to have been made.
