Regarding “In the Realm of King Arthur” (Aug. 13): I have visited both Glastonbury and Tintagel in England with my husband. I, too, felt the existence of King Arthur and his queen.
When we were in Tintagel, it was a rainy, gloomy day. We carefully climbed the many stairs to the top, which is known as Arthur’s Lair, for quite a view.
Writer Joe Mock left out one place in England that is linked to Arthur. In the cathedral city of Winchester, what is alleged (and disputed by historians) to be King Arthur’s Round Table exists. It is found in the Great Hall of the ruins of Winchester Castle. It is attached to the wall and has a space for King Arthur and his 24 knights. Each space is marked with the name of the knight.
Winchester is a charming town and well worth a visit.
