Voters League Creates Web Site

The Ventura County League of Women Voters has created a Web site featuring an overview of local issues and information on area elections.
The Internet site--0https://www.ez2.net/lwv--also includes a brief history of the national nonpartisan political organization, which was founded in 1920, said Dot Engel, vice president of the local league.
“The league’s mission is to encourage participation of citizens in government, to increase understanding of major public-policy issues and to influence public policy through education and advocacy,” Engel said. “What better way to expand this outreach than to offer information on the Internet.”
The site includes current issues, volunteering, a calendar of events, a list of publications, election information and links to other sites.
The site also monitors implementation of Measure A on the 1998 November ballot, which focuses on expanding local greenbelts to preserve farmland.
