The Discovery Science Center is kicking off a series of “Adults’ Night Out” on Jan. 20 with an evening of “Mozart, Math and Mondavi.” Gordon L. Shaw, professor emeritus of physics at UC Irvine, will discuss the “Mozart Effect,” the theory that asserts children who listen to classical music do better at math. Guests can also sample wines from the cellars of Napa winemaker Robert Mondavi. Opera Pacific’s Maria Simeone will sing an aria from Mozart’s opera “Don Giovanni.” Tickets are $8 to $15. Information: (714) 542-2823.
