Medians to Be Built in Effort to Slow Traffic

SOUTH PASADENA — City officials say they will install two or three landscaped medians on a stretch of Fletcher Avenue, where residents have complained about speeders for more than a year.
Fletcher Avenue neighbors have deluged City Hall with complaints that commuters use Fletcher as a shortcut to Los Angeles because it is one of the few roads cutting across Huntington Drive.
A proposal from residents calling for speed humps was rejected by the City Council in December. Several council members said they would merely divert traffic to neighboring streets. The city subsequently hired a traffic consultant, who suggested the medians.
