An Orange County Superior Court judge’s Monday ruling has heartened Festival of Arts exhibitors who want to recall festival board members who favor moving the 68-year institution to San Clemente.
Exhibitor Robin Hall, a painter, had requested that Judge William F. McDonald approve a recall election. He denied her request. However, he instructed festival officials to call a meeting to poll the festival’s 2,725 voting members to determine whether they want to recall the board of directors.
Hall’s lawyer, Eugene Gratz, said he will ask McDonald this week to reconsider his ruling and allow an election.
Under McDonald’s ruling, if members who show up at the meeting decide to be polled, a mail election will be held. Only the members who live in Orange County can vote.
