The Planning Commission put on hold a permit request from the county to connect a county water pipe to a city line to provide water for the Prima Deshecha landfill.
The Orange County Integrated Waste Management Department, which operates the landfill, requested that the commission continue the item indefinitely while the agency does further analysis.
The landfill, on La Pata Avenue east of San Juan Capistrano, requires a constant water source to combat dust. A fire hose connected to a fire hydrant is now used as a source of water.
