It’s a mighty Bolshoi Ballet weekend in Costa Mesa when the fabled Russian company makes its Orange County Performing Arts Center debut with two full-length ballets. Today, the troupe--whose name literally means “big” or “grand”--will dance artistic director Alexei Fadeyechev’s 1999 production of “Don Quixote.” Watch for Leonid Lavrosky’s historic 1940 production of “Romeo and Juliet,” Friday through Sunday afternoon.

Two season-long art festivals open today in Laguna Beach, each showing off a different side of Orange County’s top artistic community. The Art-A-Fair Festival features works from local and international artists, embracing digital art and other cutting-edge mediums. For those seeking a more timeless sheen, the 34th annual Sawdust Festival displays paintings, sculptures, crafts, poetry and more along sawdust-laden paths in a three-acre eucalyptus grove.
