Saddleback Memorial Medical Center today will test BabyPress Conference.com, the county’s first online maternity service wiring newborns to friends and relatives across the world.

The online service is expected to allow parents to bypass photographs and introduce their new babies to online guests in full-motion video and sound.

New parents will receive a free 30-minute session by listing their guests’ names and e-mail addresses for the private broadcast. Once the video monitor is activated, couples will be able to interact and answer guests’ questions shown on a terminal screen. The hospital is one of 18 across the country chosen as a test site for the program.
