The American Cinematheque is presenting “The Prince and the Imposter: A Tribute to Tony Curtis,” the actor’s first Los Angeles retrospective. The two-week series kicks off with “The Sweet Smell of Success” (1957) and a discussion with Curtis and composer Elmer Bernstein. In the film, Curtis plays the opportunistic press agent Sidney Falco to Burt Lancaster’s Walter Winchell-like gossip columnist. See Screening Room, Page XX.

An $8-million extravaganza, “Disney on Ice Presents Toy Story” mixes laughter with careening car chases, daring rescues and high-flying heroics. This family-oriented ice show brings to life the characters from the popular “Toy Story” films. Choreographed by Olympic gold medalist Robin Cousins, the production features an international cast of skaters led by American Eddie Gornick as Woody and Russia’s Alexander Klimkin as Buzz Lightyear. At the Great Western Forum through Sunday and at the Arrowhead Pond of Anaheim next week.

Appropriately during this year, the 250th anniversary of the death of J.S. Bach, this week conductor-harpsichordist Trevor Pinnock leads his ensemble, the English Concert, in the six Brandenburg Concertos on Thursday in Costa Mesa and Sunday at UCLA. The English Concert, which Pinnock founded in 1973, performs on period instruments.
