Makeup artist Michael F. Blake, in his letter last week about Universal Studios’ research library, recalled how indispensable those facilities were when he needed to create an accurate Clarence Darrow for a TV movie featuring a “flashback to the 1940s and a famous rape-murder trial.”
Notwithstanding that it’s not Hollywood’s business to get the facts right, Darrow died in 1938.
