The Police Department will hold the first of two Citizens Police Academy courses for this year, beginning Thursday, from 5:30 to 9 p.m.

The 10-week course will inform residents how the Police Department works. Topics include 911 communications, the criminal justice system and safety. Classes will be taught by officers and detectives, and will be limited to 25 residents. The classes will be held in City Council chambers, 7822 Walker St. Information: (714) 690-3386.
