COSTA MESA

The sun glinted off 40 shining green balloons held fast by children, parents and neighbors Saturday in Costa Mesa as they marched in St. Joachim Parish’s seventh annual Walk-for-Life fund-raiser to benefit the Life Centers of Orange County.
Life Centers is a nonprofit organization that provides free counseling and health services to pregnant women.
Through sponsors, parishioners more than tripled last year’s fund-raising results, said Diane Brown, treasurer of the anti-abortion committee.
“It far exceeded anything we’ve ever done,” she said.
One walker, Estelle Redoutey, earned more than $1,000 in pledges.
