Re “Staples Owners Propose Huge New Project,” May 4: I am amused at the potential flap over public financing for the proposed development around Staples Center.
There has been such incredible waste of taxpayers’ money in this city spent on absurd and failed redevelopment projects from South-Central to North Hollywood, never mind the Belmont Learning Complex, the subway to nowhere, ad nauseam--scandals worthy of criminal investigations, in my opinion.
For local politicos to now oppose city financing for a project that could actually reap real benefits for Los Angeles (and ultimately pay for itself with new tax revenue) is pure, grandstanding politics--Los Angeles city government at its inept best.
