Firefighters Set 1st of 3 Controlled Burns
- Share via
Ventura County firefighters began three days of controlled burns with a burn-off in the Kevington area of Thousand Oaks on Tuesday.
The burns will continue today in the Frost Ranch area of Santa Paula and Thursday in the Fairview area of Ojai.
The burns are expected to help clear excess vegetation and reduce the threat of wildfires.
The Ventura County Air Pollution Control District said there will be some smoke in canyon areas, and signs will be posted near the burn areas to notify residents of what is going on.
The burns may be canceled if the weather is not optimal.
