Swiss Firm to Purchase Core Vent/Paragon Implant

Sulzer Medica of Winterthur, Switzerland, Europe’s No. 1 orthopedic products maker, agreed to buy Core Vent Corp./Paragon Implant Co. of Encino for $100 million to double its worldwide market share in dental implants.
Core Vent/Paragon has 250 employees and annual sales of $30 million, Sulzer Medica said in a faxed statement. The acquisition will make it one of the top three makers of dental implants worldwide.
Sulzer Medica plans to merge Core Vent with its dental implant unit, Sulzer Calcitek, to form Sulzer Dental. It expects to receive regulatory approval for the purchase by the end of the year.
