Judge Orders County Pharmacists to End Walkouts

LOS ANGELES — As 120 county pharmacists completed their third two-day walkout, a Los Angeles Superior Court judge has barred most from further job actions.
Judge Dzintra Janavs granted a temporary restraining order Tuesday barring all pharmacists based in county hospitals from striking until Dec. 5, when the judge is scheduled to hear additional arguments on the matter. Pharmacists in county clinics can continue job actions.
The pharmacists union launched the series of walkouts last month to win larger raises for its members, who have been offered increases by the county of 14% to 20% over three years.
Union officials argue that county pharmacists are underpaid compared to their private sector counterparts.
