Masterful Start Reaches 5-0 for Mustangs, 95-73

Tyler Hoffman scored 21 points and reserve Kenny Jackson had 19 points and nine assists Wednesday night to help The Master’s College to its first 5-0 start with a 95-73 nonconference men’s basketball victory over Hope International at Master’s.
Hoffman made six of 11 shots, including three of five from three-point range, and six of six free throws.
Jackson hit six of nine shots, including three of four on three-pointers, and sank four of five free throws.
Jonathan Stoa had 18 points for Hope International (2-2), and Axel Margaritha contributed 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Master’s made 60% of its shots (36 of 60), including nine of 14 three-pointers.
Glendale 96, Rio Hondo 81--Dijon Lee had 15 points, six assists and five steals, and Tim Taylor scored 18 points for the Vaqueros in a nonconference victory at Glendale.
Ronald Gray, from Taft High, scored 16 points for Glendale (2-1).
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Pierce 84, L.A. City 50--Shayla Slezak scored 21 points and Alma Ibarra had 18 points, six assists and seven steals for the Brahmas in a nonconference victory at Pierce.
Kaleen Clinton had 15 points, 12 rebounds and six assists for Pierce (1-1).
