FTC Issues Warnings to E-Tailers on Unkept Delivery Promises

Seeking to head off another holiday season of disappointments with gifts ordered online not arriving on time, the Federal Trade Commission said it’s warning more than 100 e-tailers about making promises about deliveries they cannot fulfill. The agency declined to identify the companies on its list to receive the letters spelling out regulations on shipments. During last year’s holiday shopping season, ToysRUs.com and KBKids.com were two of seven e-tailers hit by the agency with $1.5 million in penalties for failing to give consumers adequate notification about delays and promising deliveries by dates that were impossible to meet.
