Oxnard’s Diversity

* Re “Diversity,” Ventura County letters, Nov. 12.
Meeta Begum wrote that “I am painfully aware that I am different, of different color and of national origin. The America that I thought of in Malaysia was a place where everyone was treated with respect regardless. It’s a sad realization for me.”
Yes, it is sad. But actually you are very fortunate. You live near Oxnard. In Oxnard you may shop and socialize without any stigma. Here you may appreciate America as it should be.
For all its faults, Oxnard exhibits the colorblindness that the rest of our country might one day enjoy.
Welcome to America, Meeta!
