Authorities identified the owner of a Hollywood beauty shop who was fatally stabbed Saturday morning at his business by an assailant who then eluded capture.
Fernando Padilla Garcia, 47, of Hollywood died at a local hospital after he was attacked in his shop on the 5500 block of Santa Monica Boulevard, Los Angeles police spokeswoman Charlotte Broughton said Sunday.
Hollywood Division detectives said the suspect was seen with Garcia outside his business shortly before the stabbing. The suspect left shortly after 9:30 a.m. and went to a nearby beauty shop and washed his shirt. He was later chased away from a yard sale in an apparent attempt to change his appearance, police said.
Despite an extensive search, police were unable to make an arrest.
