CARSON — A hit-and-run driver killed an elderly pedestrian Friday who witnesses said was too slow to cross the intersection before the light turned red.
Officer John Tye of the California Highway Patrol said a surveillance camera mounted on a nearby business taped the incident. The car, driven by a man, is a silver Honda Civic CRX, Tye said.
Officials said the 71-year-old victim, whose identity was withheld, pending notification of relatives, reportedly was hit as he crossed Vermont Avenue at 228th Street about 7 a.m.
