Capelouto, Cota Win 10K

Matt Capelouto of Trabuco Canyon had the best time, 32 minutes 9 seconds, in the 10-kilometer run Sunday at the 20th Heart and Sole Walk/Run in Irvine. Marni Cota of Dana Point had the best women’s time, 40:43.
The event, a fund-raiser for the Orange County chapter of the American Heart Association, raised at least $500,000 for medical research and public education, according to Karen Wallace, senior corporate events director for the county chapter.
Wallace said an estimated 8,000 people attended the event at the Irvine Spectrum. About 95 percent of the participants competed in the 5K walk, she said.
There was also a 1K fun run for children.
