Relative Success

* Two articles on the Sept. 6 Commentary page struck a parallel. Doug Gamble argues that for George W. Bush winning the presidential debate equals personality plus improved performance since February. So Bush should debate. Richard Riordan argues that more pay for teachers equals accountability plus annual percentage gain in test scores. So teachers should earn. This is a kind of affirmative action which adds more points for relative as opposed to absolute success. Something to think about. Too bad Al Gore had a head start.
