A 37-year-old Anaheim man was arrested Saturday on suspicion of murder, two days after his live-in girlfriend was found dead, authorities said.
Paramedics responding to a 911 call on Thursday found Reyes Gatica and his 55-year-old girlfriend on the floor of their Ball Road apartment. Gatica was critically wounded, and the woman was dead from injuries sustained in a struggle, said Sgt. Rick Martinez of the Anaheim Police Department. Authorities did not disclose the type of injuries suffered by either Gatica or the woman. The woman’s name also has not been released.
“We found items in the apartment, but we don’t know if they were the weapons involved,” Martinez said.
Gatica was arrested at UCI Medical Center, where he was being treated for his injuries. He is being held in lieu of $250,000 bail, officials said.
