A 53-year-old Ventura man was jailed late Tuesday after allegedly rear-ending his girlfriend’s car after they argued and she was leaving his home, authorities said.
Edward Michael Keyser was being held Wednesday on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon after Chrysta Barcheer’s vehicle was rammed about 11:15 p.m., Ventura police said. His bail was set at $20,000.
The incident occurred after the couple quarreled at Keyser’s trailer in the 800 block of West Main Street, police said.
After her car was struck, Barcheer drove away but she was followed for several blocks, police said.
Barcheer pulled into the parking lot of the Red Cove bar near Main and Pacific streets and ran inside, police said. Keyser tried to follow her but was stopped by several patrons outside the bar, police said. He was later arrested at his home.
Barcheer was uninjured and the investigation was continuing.
