POTOSI, Mo. — A man convicted of a murder prompted by an argument over machine guns was executed in Missouri early Wednesday, becoming the fourth inmate put to death in the state this year.
George Harris, 41, was sentenced to die for the murder of 20-year-old Stanley Willoughby of Kansas City in March 1989.
Last-minute appeals filed by Harris with the U.S. Supreme Court and Missouri Gov. Mel Carnahan were rejected Tuesday night.
