American swimmer Gary Hall Jr., who was diagnosed with diabetes last year, has recovered from the debilitating trip to Australia.
So Hall chose to stay in Sydney to train while his teammates went to Brisbane last week.
“Gary Hall’s blood sugar levels were fluctuating quite wildly, up and down, and that’s not an unusual thing when he has a long flight like that,” U.S. men’s Coach Mark Schubert said.
“He’s been very cautious, rested, worked with the medical staff here daily. Right now, he’s doing very well and seems to be totally recovered.”
