From Native American dancers to tribal drummers, the California Indian Council Foundation will host the 12th annual Everything Is Sacred Native American Intertribal Pow Wow from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at Borchard Park, 190 N. Reino Road.
The free event will feature traditional literature, food and artifacts from various tribes.
People not accustomed to a Native American celebration are invited to see spiritual dances and drumming that represent each tribe’s customs, history and music, said Richard Blackbear, president of the council and event coordinator.
“People are amazed by the dancing,” he said. “Many people never knew that our traditions are so graceful and beautiful.”
Some of the traditional dances include the jingle dress and grass dancing ritual, a traditional dance done before battle, Blackbear said.
