The City Council presented certificates of recognition to the Fountain Valley Youth Baseball Bronco All-Stars at Tuesday’s meeting.
The youngsters captured third place in the Pony World Series in August in Monterey.
The Fountain Valley team won its first two games, defeating Monterey, 13-2, and then Forest Hills, Fla., 6-0, capturing the title of Pony Baseball’s Bronco national champions. Fountain Valley then lost its next game to a team from Taipei, Taiwan, 6-5. The next night Fountain Valley scratched back from a 6-0 deficit against a powerful team from Puerto Rico, only to lose on a 10th-inning home run, 10-9.
The Chinese team went on to beat Puerto Rico, 14-4, the next night to win the World Series.
