Hostages Are Seized in Black Sea Town

Russian security forces surrounded a hotel in the Black Sea town of Lazarevskoye in southern Russia, where gunmen were holding at least two people hostage and demanding $30 million and a helicopter. The gunmen freed one of their captives today, the Itar-Tass news agency reported. Police were negotiating with the hostage-takers, who appeared to have dropped a demand that Russia release all Chechens being held in prison.
