Ocean View Cruises to Victory Over Century

Ocean View jumped out to a big lead and cruised to a 28-6 victory over Century in a nonleague football game Friday at Westminster High.
The Seahawks (2-1) built a 20-0 first-half lead by scoring three touchdowns in a 6 1/2-minute span. Safety James Daniels scored the game’s first touchdown on a 49-yard interception return with 1 minute 33 seconds left in the first quarter.
The Seahawks scored on their next two possessions, with running back Jason Rhodes going in on a 30-yard run and quarterback Patrick Campbell scoring on a scramble from 18 yards.
“It was nice to get the lead early,” Ocean View Coach Harold Eggers said. “We’ve kept shooting ourselves in the foot the first two weeks. I can’t say until we see the game film, but it seemed like we played a little better this time around.”
Century (1-2) cut the Seahawks’ lead to 20-6 late in the third quarter. Quarterback Ronnie Rosas’ 50-yard completion to Celestino Johnson moved the ball to the Seahawk 15 and running back Victor Leite scored on a five-yard run by three plays later.
But the Seahawks came right back with an 11-play drive that ended on a 20-yard touchdown pass from Campbell to receiver Phillip Smith, and Century never threatened again.
