City officials approved an agreement between the Orange County Transportation Authority and the city for the implementation of the countywide travel tip system.
The system is a major element of the transportation master plan. A master traffic signal computer collects traffic volume and speed information from vehicle detectors on arterial streets in the city. The information is then sent to the OCTA, where it is used to determine traffic congestion on the different streets. The information is then made available to the public.
