MOORPARK — Three women incarcerated at a state youth prison in Camarillo walked away from their outdoor work assignments at a city park here Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.
The women, classified as minimum security offenders, were part of a crew working at Poindexter Park near California 23 and Poindexter Avenue, according to Al Palomino of the Ventura Youth Correctional Facility.
A team of state and county authorities was searching late Wednesday for Brandy Trevino, 20, of Fresno, Janet Hernandez, 19, of Laguna Hills and Claudia Chavarria, 20, of Corcoran.
Trevino was serving time for assault with a deadly weapon, Hernandez for kidnapping and Chavarria for burglary, according to Palomino. All three were members of a fire camp work crew given access to outdoor assignments.
