Many Beautiful Birds Spotted in Long Beach
- Share via
I have just finished reading “Eyes on the Skies” (April 5) by Robert Smaus. He certainly described the joys of birding in Southern California, but I was amazed to find that he missed mentioning our local El Dorado Park in Long Beach. I have viewed there great blue herons, great and snowy egrets, black phoebes, common yellowthroats, ruddy ducks and even our “resident” osprey soaring high above the nature center with a fish in its talons. All of this beautiful natural setting is surrounded by the urban development of Long Beach and western Orange County. We even have our own chapter of the National Audubon Society, the El Dorado Audubon Society.
