Squirrel Hunt

* Hunters have proved that after 10 years of gunfire in Surprise Valley the ground squirrels keep on coming (“Gunfire Rakes the Hayfields in a War Against the Squirrel,” April 22). And they always will, as long as there is a food source. This is yet another example of how man creates a problem and animals pay the ultimate price. It also illustrates the cowardice of hunters who proudly shoot these tiny animals.

An animal species population grows exponentially, its voracious appetite destroys the environment, and it causes death and destruction to the other species that share that environment. This creature is labeled as a cockroach and is subjected to slaughter.
It takes one to know one, I suppose. There is nothing surprising about animal behavior in Surprise Valley.
