USC’s Moore Reaches Pac-10 Semifinals

USC’s Ryan Moore upset defending NCAA singles champion Alex Kim of Stanford to advance to the semifinals of the Pac-10 individual men’s championships at the Ojai Valley tennis tournament Friday.
Moore won, 7-6, 6-0, over Kim, last year’s Pac-10 runner-up and the tournament’s No. 1-seeded player. Moore will play UCLA’s Jean-Noel Grinda today at 9:30 a.m. In the other semifinal, Stanford’s K.J. Hippensteel will face UCLA’s Jean-Julien Rojer at 11 a.m.
Grinda and Rojer advanced to the semifinals as a team in doubles and will play Stanford’s Hippensteel and Kim today at 3:30.
UCLA’s Sara Walker cruised into the Pac-10 women’s semifinals and will play top-seeded Adria Engel of Arizona State today at 9:30 a.m. Raquel Kops-Jones of California meets UCLA’s Lauren Fisher in the other semifinal at 11 a.m.
In the men’s open semifinals, defending champion Mark Ellis of Ventura faces Montecito’s Peter Jeschke in a rematch of last year’s final, while Eugene Karimov of Encino plays Santa Barbara’s Aaron Webster in the other semifinal.
