Girl, 12, Killed, 3 People Injured in Collision

A 12-year-old girl was killed and three people were injured in a two-vehicle crash at a busy Oxnard intersection Saturday, police said.
A Geo Metro and a pickup truck collided about 11:30 a.m. at 5th Street and Victoria Avenue, Oxnard Police Sgt. Jason Benites said. The girl, whose name and hometown were withheld pending notification of relatives, was riding in the car. She died instantly.
The three injured people were treated at St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Oxnard. Information about their conditions was not available.
The intersection was blocked for several hours, causing traffic backups in all directions, Benites said.
Authorities have not determined the cause of the accident.
