The First Angelenos

John Zavesky needs to take a history class (letter, Aug. 2). Los Angeles was not founded by the European Spanish in 1781. More than half of the families who settled the pueblo at the request of the king of Spain were mulatto or black. Go to the Olvera Street plaza and read the plaque inscribed with the history of the founding of Los Angeles.
