Cause of Copter Crash Still Under Investigation

No emergency calls were issued by the pilot of a tourist helicopter that crashed near the Grand Canyon, killing six people, federal investigators said during a press briefing.
An initial inquiry found that the 10-year-old aircraft never had any mechanical problems, said Jeff Rich, a senior air safety investigator with the National Transportation Safety Board. The helicopter crashed about seven miles after refueling, killing five tourists and the pilot.
The sole survivor, identified by a friend as Chana Daskal of New York, remained in critical condition in a Las Vegas hospital as family and friends of the tourists who perished returned to New York.
