Vanguard Group, the second-biggest U.S. mutual fund company, said it has changed fiscal year-ends for 33 portfolios to simplify reporting.
Vanguard said the funds’ capital gains and dividend distribution cycles will be unaffected. Still, funds changing from a Dec. 31 year-end will no longer distribute supplemental capital gains during March of the following year.
Fiscal year-end for Vanguard Variable Insurance Fund, which includes 13 portfolios, was switched to Dec. 31 to put it more in line with the industry standard for insurance products.
Vanguard changed fiscal year-ends for 20 other portfolios to help spread reporting volumes throughout the year. They include Vanguard Growth and Income Fund, whose fiscal year-end shifted to Sept. 30, and Vanguard International Value Fund, which changed to Oct. 31.
