Two followers of white supremacist Alex James Curtis have been sentenced to federal prison for harassing Rep. Bob Filner (D-San Diego), spraying swastikas on a synagogue and other hate crimes.
Michael Brian DaSilva, 22, of Lakeside was sentenced to 21 months, and Robert Nichol Morehouse, 54, of San Diego received 18 months. Both had pleaded guilty.
Curtis, 25, published a white supremacist Internet newsletter from his parents’ home in Lemon Grove until he was arrested for threatening Filner, Anti-Defamation League leader Morris Casuto and others. Curtis pleaded guilty and was sentenced to three years in prison.
Federal Judge John C. Coughenour also ordered DaSilva to pay $300 in restitution to Congregation Tifereth Israel, which was defaced with spray-painted swastikas and anti-Semitic slogans.
