Courthouses to Begin New On-Call Jury System

The new “one trial” jury system in place elsewhere in Los Angeles County begins today at the Glendale and Burbank courthouses, court officials said.
Under the system, people selected at random will receive jury duty summonses requiring them to phone the court’s on-call system for up to five days.
The new jury system was mandated by state law in 1999.
