Rep. Elton Gallegly will give congressional bronze medals for community service to two local teenagers Tuesday. Gallegly (R-Simi Valley) will present the medals to Garrett Asanuma, 15, of Simi Valley and Mathew Morgan, 16, of Camarillo during a ceremony in the congressman’s Oxnard office.
The congressional medal is the highest honor Congress bestows on the nation’s youth. More than 6,500 medals have been given since the program began in 1979.
