FCC Commissioner Eyeing Senate Run
Gloria Tristani, one of two Democratic commissioners on the Federal Communications Commission, said she will resign from the agency Sept. 7 and head home to New Mexico, where she is expected to run for the U.S. Senate.
Tristani has said she plans to challenge Republican Sen. Pete Domenici, the ranking member of the Senate budget committee, for his seat. Tristani was appointed by President Clinton and served at the FCC for almost four years.
The FCC is made up of five commissioners, split in favor of the political party that holds the White House. Tristani’s departure from the agency will mark an almost complete change of commissioners at the agency this year.
