Resident Wants to Close the Door Behind Him

Re “Rancho Mission Viejo Proposal Disappoints,” (Letters, Nov. 18):
I find it ironic that David Bendall of Aliso Viejo is so upset about the proposed Rancho Mission Viejo plan and so concerned about “urban sprawl” in South County.
Thirty-five years ago my father, a civil engineer, worked closely with Charlotte (maiden name Moulton) and Glenn Mathers, owners of the Moulton Ranch, in regard to bringing water to the area, setting up assessment districts, etc. As a child I can remember taking Sunday drives through the vast Laguna Niguel area on dirt roads and undeveloped terrain.
This area, now known as Aliso Viejo, is Bendall’s home. Apparently, it is OK for him to live in the “urban sprawl” that used to be undeveloped ranch land, but God forbid that current ranch owners be allowed to do the same in his “backyard.”
